The shape of the glass measuring cup is a circular cone with a large upper and a small lower, which can hold more liquid than a measuring cylinder.
It must be cleaned before use, dried and flattened, and then poured the solution to the scale line slightly higher than the required capacity, and then slowly poured off the excess until the lower edge of the meniscus of the solution was just on the scale line of the required capacity. The upper edge is the capacity to be measured. The solution is poured out of the barrel slowly through the mouth, and finally the mouth of the barrel is brought into contact with the wall of the receiver to remove the last of the solution.
